Allopathy

Allopathy also known as orthodox or Western medicine is the treatment of disease conditions by making use of conventional methods. The medications used are those that have effects opposite to those of the symptoms.

The term Allopathy comes from the Greek word “allos” meaning “opposite” and “pathos” meaning “to suffer”. It was coined by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the 1800s in order to establish its difference from Homeopathy.
