What are hair follicles?

The hair follicle is an organ generally observed in the mammalian skin. It dwells in the dermal layer of the skin. It is built up of more than 20 diverse cell classes, each with distinguished functions. The hair follicle governs hair growth through compound interactions between neuropeptides, hormones and immune cells.
